Has the Australian Armed Forces gone mad sending all girl zombie punk rock band Legless to Timor Leste to entertain the troops? Apparently not! Legless returned to Australia completely unscathed, but since then all hell has broken loose on our neighbouring island.
Defence Personal has described the tour as one of the most successful so far. Approximately 800 Australian and New Zealand Troops were given rock and roll respite in the eight-day tour. Legless performed alongside Country Music Artist Paul Costa, comedian Fred Lang and MC Krystal Forscutt, surviving sobriety, hot tropical conditions and a very busy schedule.
It was an unforgettable experience for the Legless Ladies, who took the opportunity to perform songs from their album "Finding Mr. Perfect", including their outstanding version of the Australian National Anthem. The girls also performed at an Orphanage, and visited sick and injured troops in the army hospital.
"You don't really understand what it is like over there until you see for yourself. The Troops were so appreciative; the Timor Leste people were so friendly and welcoming. It is only since we've got home and seen the headlines that we realise the impact our tour has had. Our troops in Timor Leste do it very hard in totally trying conditions, we hope and wish for their safe return."
The 12th Face tour travelled throughout the districts performing for the soldiers over a week-long period.
